Being Happy
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

The same girl who laughs and talks a lot and seems very happy is also the girl who may cry herself to sleep
When I was in grade school, they told me to write down what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I wrote down happy.

They told me I didn't understand the assignment,

I told them they didn't understand life

Being happy doesn't mean you're perfect. It just means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections
sometimes all you can do is walk away, hide your tears, and just pretend you're okay

When I think of the last time somebody made me feel good.. the last time somebody made me really laugh... the last time somebody made me happy... I was with you.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."

If you think sunshine brings you happiness, then you haven't danced in the rain ...

MICHAEL JACKSON 'THIS IS IT' CONTROVERSY: SO WHO EXACTLY SAFIRE??

lot of questions got resolved yesterday about the new Michael Jackson single “This Is It” — in particular, exactly who wrote the tune. (The answer apparently being Jackson and veteran singer-songwriter Paul Anka.) But you may still be wondering just who is Safire, the singer who originally recorded the track when it was called “I Never Heard.”

Safire was born Wilma Cosme on the island of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and subsequently moved to New York’s Spanish Harlem. In the late ‘80s, she recorded a clutch of singles for Cutting Records and became a leading light of the on-the-rise Latin hip-hop/freestyle scene (a largely regional phenomenon whose ranks yielded stars like Stevie B, Exposé, and Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam)
After signing with Mercury/Polygram, Safire put out her first, self-titled, album, featuring the Marc Anthony-penned single “Boy I’ve Been Told.” Her big commercial break came with the slow-paced 1989 hit, “Thinking of You,” a song dedicated to her uncle, who had passed away from AIDS complications. Spin magazine put her on their cover (see left), and the singer was also featured in the pages of Vogue. In 1990 Safire released a less successful second album, I Wasn’t Born Yesterday, which featured the Jackson-Anka composition.

According to Safire’s current manager Sal Abbatiello, the song was originally intended as a duet between Safire and Anka, whose writing credits also include the English lyrics for “My Way.” “They thought Safire was going to be the next Gloria Estefan,” says Abatiello. “She had put out three big dance records and she was becoming a very well known artist. And then she put out the ballad ‘Thinking of You,’ which was one of the most played records of the year. But when Michael met her in California at the studio, he saw how young and beautiful she was. He told Paul, ‘You can’t do the record with her, she’s too young.’ And he gave her the song.”

Safire continues to perform, and following Jackson’s death earlier this year, she posted a tribute on her myspace page which concluded, “R.I.P. Michael you will truly be missed but you will live on in every song. Love always SAFIRE.”

Of course, one of the songs Jackson will live on through is “This Is It,” or, if you prefer, “I Never Heard.” Either way, you can hear Safire’s version of the track below as well as her
biggest hit, “Thinking of You.”

Empowering Thoughts

What is it that makes people successful and I mean really successful compared to you or me? Are they smarter or do they work harder? Are they risk takers or have powerful and influential friends ?
I originally came across this list when I was staring at some  Old journal I have 3 Years ago  *smile*   this is real old ... on my desk  It wasn’t until the morning I noticed something... something that impacts me each time I read it It was the  10 Secrets to Success. Once my head cleared, I quickly  decide want to share hopes of motivating you , by using  this as an example :

Do you know where you  going ?

10 Secrets To Success

1. How You Think is Everything.=Always be positive. Think Success, not Failure. Beware of a negative environment.

2. Decide upon Your True Dreams and Goals: Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach them

3. Take Action. Goals are nothing without action= Be like Nike and “Just do it”. I took action by reaching out and started writing. Every day I try to take some action towards my goals. It may be small, but it’s still an action. Have you taken action towards your goals

4. Never Stop Learning: Go back to school or read books. Get training & acquire skills

5. Be Persistent and Work Hard: Success is a marathon, not a sprint.Never give up.

6. Learn to Analyze Details: Get all the facts, all the input. Learn from your mistakes.

7. Focus Your Time And Money: Don’t let other people or things distract you..

8. Don’t Be Afraid To Innovate: Be different. Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity

Follow through on that break-out idea you have. Ask yourself “What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?”

9. Deal And Communicate With People Effectively: No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others ...

Successful people develop and nurture a network and they only do that by treating  people openly, fairly and many times firmly. There is nothing wrong about being firm – just don’t cross the a-hole line. How do you deal with people?

10. Be Honest And Dependable: Take responsibility, otherwise numbers 1 – 9 won’t matter.

Peace Prize For The President

This morning President Barack Obama was awakened with wonderful news. He’s been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The committee explained the decision thusly:

“The first African-American to hold his country’s highest office, Obama has called for disarmament and worked to restart the stalled Middle East peace process since taking office in January.

“‘Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future.’

It’s so early in his term, but I wholeheartedly applaud the decision. This was awarded on the basis of the hope Obama has been able to inspire, and in that regard, it’s completely deserved. Obama is doing his best to change the world’s image of America, to restore international diplomacy to what it used to be, and to ignite hope and ambition in Americans again.

But of course, there are those who are speaking out, and are angry about this decision. Which is only to be expected — just about everything the President does ignites a polarized response from the right. The response thus far today brings a certain Jill Scott song to my mind.

POETRY BY ~JO

*TRULY* THIS POEM I JUST WROTE ITS NOT THE LYRICS OF LIONEL RICHIE SONG !

If I never find my true love

While I am still alive

He will never be able to hurt me

So much that I will feel like

I have died.

If I only keep hoping someday

True love I will find

Then I never will lose what I

believed was mine.

If I never do trust and give my

heart to someone again

Then the hope in "Someday, somehow,

Someone" will truly love me-

will never end..

Any fool with a dick can make a baby but it takes a real man to be a father

#My Fav's Movie Ever

This line was stated matter of factly by his ex-wife to Mr. Styles, played by Lawrence Fishburn in the movie Boys N the Hood. She was referring to his lack of initiative in the past when it came to helping to rear their son, Tre Styles (played by Cuba Gooding, Jr.). Of course, I thought she came off as a tad bitchy saying that, because Tre chose to stay with his father who obviously cared for him a great deal and did many things to teach him well in his young adult years, even if he was somewhat absent during earlier times; something we didn't get to see but is implied throughout.

Not to mention the fact that earlier in the movie, there is a scene in which Tre explains his embelished 'first time' to his father and admits that he didn't use a condom. Mr. Styles' disappointed reaction to that includes him saying, 'any fool with a dick can make a baby but only a real man can raise his children.'

Regardless of its implications in this particular movie, the phrase is precisely true and unconditionally pertinent in real life. Obviously most males are capable of producing the sperm that will create a child...but does that mean that they will stick around to be involved in the resulting child's life? And, even if they do stick around, will they automatically be a caring and fair father to this child? That takes what Ms. Styles called 'a real man'...translate it to what you will...the point is merely that so very much more goes into being a father than simply using your male anatomy to create life.

Untold Story ~Ms.X IT Was Just A Booty Call !

That's What You Get When You Let Your Heart Go

Its was Just  a booty Call (.)(.)

I ran down the road to get a taxi. I was scared I'd break my new lime green heels. I opened my perse to grab my cell. I had a unread text. It said, "Hey babe, last night wuz great. call me, Derick." I rolled my eyes. My the hell did I have to sleep with men? I have never been in a real relationship. Really. But their was that one time. It was three years ago.It went like this.....It was my  birthday. I went to a new club with my besties. Khloe', Lola, Jennifer, Piper, and Briena. I had my first few drinks. By midnight I was sitting at the bar. Then this cute and sexy guy walked up to me. I laughed a bit to much. I was drunk. "Hey, your pretty." I smiled. "Really? I'm now jjjjjust ......" He smiled. I knew he didn't like me when I was drunk. "Thanks cool! My name is Cheyne. With a C." I bit my lip. I tasted blood so I stopped. "Thats cool. I'm Marianne. With a M."
I was with Cheyne most of the night. He was very sweet. You don't get a guy like that in this world anymore. I was like a little high school girl talking about my crush. I went outside to get some air. I looked to my side to see Cheyne was next to me. I laughed. Before no time Cheyne and I were in bed together.

I woke up the next morning. Cheyne wasn't their. I got scared. I really liked him. Even though I knew I was drunk last night, I remembered him. Every feature. His Tall Dark Handsome  and light blue eyes that sparkle in the light. Ahhhhhh !!!!. He was so  perfect. I liked him. I got dressed and went to work. After work I got a text from Cheyne. "Hey baby, call me. I want to have some "Fun" tonight!!! xo Cheyne with a C!."

I smiled. I opened my phone. "Hey Cheyne?" He waited a while to say something. "Hey Marianne. Come to my place. My address is 309 NW Parks St. Love ya Cheyne." I waited to talk but the line was dead. Was I just a booty call?  hahahahaha!!!!  Or the real thing? Well I went to his place. All we did was hang out. I guess we never slept togther.

We then started dating. We were dating for a year. I wanted the ring. The dimond. The one every girl dreams of. But he never gave it to me.

That was that year. Crap. The taxi got my shoes wet. I got into the taxi and head off to work. Standing on one knee at my office was Cheyne Jordes.
